Ancient Civilizations in MesoAmerica course
The ancient civilizations of Mesomerica are the some of the most
facinating cultures of the New World.
With the beginnings of the Ice Age, man reached the America continent
by following the herds which sustained him.
The domestication of Maize enabled man to have civilization because of
food surpluses resulted in the formation of specialized labor.
The first true civilaztion that developed along the Gulf Coast was that
of the Olmec. The Olmec had a difficult task with their efforts at agriculture in the
dense, tropical jungle. (See Olmec altar).
