Re: [HAPS-L] articulation agreements [was a bunch of other things until Steve blew it up.. :^)- ]

Community colleges in Texas cannot use cadavers, neither can universities unless they are affiliated with a medical school. I think the law was written due to the seven, or is it eight, medical schools we have in the state.

JJ et al,

I guess it is in my nature to BLOW THE H*** OUT OF THINGS!!! Must
be my inquisitive nature, or just a nasty "Devil's advocate" streak that
people I work with claim I have. I guess we'll never know...... ;~)

The reason that I broached the subject is that we are in the midst
of a search for a "Director of Transfer Programs" at Zane State. The
position, which covers almost everything under the sun, is supposed to
assist our students looking to transfer from a 2-year to a 4-year
institution. We were just given clearance by the Ohio Board of Regents
to start offering Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees.
Now, this individual is supposed to "negotiate" with receiving
institutions on behalf of our students. What we have heard in the
background is that is really a crap-shoot when it comes to receiving
institutions. How does this tie into the current thread? The fact that
certain programs at other institutions require cadaver based labs. This
is something that I will need to be familiar with so I can determine if
our A&P will meet the appropriate standards of other institutions.
(After all, according to my dean, I am the content expert.) So, in the
midst of blowing this up, I think I have uncovered some useful
information that I will need to keep in the back of my mind.

So, I wish to thank those of you who have responded, or are yet to
respond, to this thread.

Wishing everyone a happy and productive 2009,

Steve
