I am trying to find, or if I have to, make,
a flow chart showing the relationship between myocardial infarction,
ventricular fibrillation, and heart failure. I don't want something
comprehensive, rather something appropriate for sophomore A&P, that covers
terms that students are likely to run across. Physiological events that
ultimately lead to heart failure is what I am after. If I am
oversimplifying to the point where such a flow chart would be misleading, I'd
like to know that too.
Pathophysiology: the Biologic Basis for disease in Adults and
Children (1998, Third Edition) Edited by McCance and Heuther has several
good flow charts showing development of congestive heart failure (both right
and left heart failure) from several different causes and the cycle of
ischemic events that can lead to sudden death or congestive heart failure
following an MI.
