request for historical information [HAPP-L]

I received the following request for information via the HAPS  webpage
(see pasted-in email below).  I am passing it along to the listserve, in
the hope that some of you with a greater knowledge of the history of A&P
will respond to Mr. Hammacher.  Please respond directly to the

Greetings:

I am taking A&P at the Community Hospital School of Nursing in
Springfield, OH.  We have a presentation to give and I would like to do
mine on the history of A&P.  I have thought about a brief discussion of
the time period prior to 1200 AD.  I will focus more on the period of
the 1400s up.  

I understand that at one time it was both grounds for excommunication as
well as death to do autopsies and study of the human anatomy.  Where
would you suggest I go to get some documentable information in this area
and do you have any ideas as to where I might get material for display
during the presentation.

This may not be what you have this e-mail service for but, any help
would be appreciated.
