Losing one's class [HAPP-L]
Here! Here! J. Steele
I think the expression is "Hear! Hear!" -- which is an archaic way of
saying "Yeah, what he said." But regardless of which is right, I join the
chorus, Jim. This list has been very stimulating and informative, and I
really appreciate you hosting it. I hope it will find a good caretaker in
your stead, and wish you a contented retirement with just enough teaching
to keep your synapses firing agreeably. The best things about retiring from
academics surely must be no more committee work! No more faculty meetings!
No more student advising and listening to the perpetual whine, "Well, I
can't take any classes before 10:00, 'cause I'm not really a morning
person, and I have to go to work at 2, and I need to graduate in 3 years,
so what can I take between 11 and 2?"
You know what they say Jim -- Old teachers never die; they just lose their
class.
Cheers and huzzahs,
Ken
