Re: Judy Gibber's prerequisite data form [HAPP-L]

Oh, good! I volunteered to work on the web committee, and I finally found
something simple to do. This took about 20 minutes to make, so please
don't hesitate to suggest any changes.

Ken, I thought I'd save you the time of entering the data, so that now
you'd have time to analyze it and write it up. ;)

How do people have these numbers? Do you keep records of %W, %F, or is it
easier to just enter the actual number of students? Do you want to enter
% or grades from this past year, or an average over several years? Are
the choices that I wrote for prereqs reasonable?

Some people have emailed to ask how to make this sort of form. I use
FrontPage to make the web page, which is only marginally more complicated
than typing text. For the form to work, though, you need to have cgi
programs running on your server. Our tech support has put these programs
up, so that students and faculty here can make forms. Their online
explanation for using them includes a link at the bottom for those who
want to install this perl script on their own computer, so if your
institution doesn't have forms available, you can ask them about
installing something like this.

This looks great, Judy. Maybe we ought to run with this. I'd be more than
happy to step aside and just become a data contributor. I wouldn't have
time to do much more than receive the data and pop them into a spreadsheet
anyway, and your form eliminates the need for even that.

Let's see what others think.

Ken
