I first had one of these students in 1980 at the Univ. of Md and he was excellent. Since then, I have had several here at Penn College with the same experience. If their HS takes our course towards their graduation, I feel it is that district's business and none of mine.

We require a credit-by-examination test to allow credit for A/P class students for various topics. To the best of my knowledge, no A/P student has ever taken our A&P and other individuals taking it have all failed.

HAPS has begun looking at this issue.  Pam Langley moderated a great panel
discussion on this topic at the St. Louis meeting last summer.  

My school (Elgin Community College - Elgin, IL) has a limited number of high
school students who come to ECC three days a week to attend my 2-semester
A&P sequence.  They do get dual credit and are integrated into a class with
"regular" ECC students.  We've currently stood firm on the issue of NOT
giving credit for some of the area's high school A&P classes.

Is there a HAPS position on dual enrollment (high school students enrolled
in college classes)?  High schools in our area would like to teach A&P at
the high schools and award those high school students college credit for
taking A&P.  

My personal opinion is that high school students have not developed the
neural connections necessary to perform well in second-year science (unless
of course the content is watered down to the high school level).
I've had high school students attempt A&P and rarely are they successful.
