[HAPS-L] Cellular complexity?

Dear Dr. Corning,

I am active on a listserv whose members mostly work as college teachers of human anatomy and physiology (HAPS-L). Recently a list member posted a query seeking candidates for the ?most complex human body cell?.

This provoked numerous plausible nominations. I contributed the view that this was an idle enterprise until an objective definition of complexity had been developed and agreed to so that empirical evidence could be used to select among nominees.

Can your work or that of the Institute that you head (http://www.complexsystems.org/) offer any help or guidance on the issue? I will post your reply to the list, with your permission.

Best wishes,
Alan Magid

PS. I nominated Paramecium tetraurelia, but it?s not a human cell of course.
