RE: [HAPS-L] Stuff our students remember...
It is amazing the amount of "Jeopardy knowledge" our students are
able to retain. One example - the carpal and tarsal bones. I use the
ole mneumonic "Some Lovers Try Positions That They Can't Handle" for the
carpals. A group of students several years ago came up with a similar
one for the tarsals; "Crazy Couples Love Introducing Many New Toys."
(The only thing the mneumonic leaves out is the cuneiform name.) I have
run into many students over the years who are not ashamed to tell me
that the only thing they remember about these groups of bones are the
mneumonics.
Now if we could just turn EVERYTHING we teach into Jeopardy
knowledge.....
