RE: [HAPS-L] Cabbage and lactation from an old wife
It finally occurred to me to ask my wife about this issue since we have
had the two trouble-makers (obviously, I am their dad!). My wife also is
especially well qualified since the relative she was closest to and
basically raised her, her grandmother, was a native herbalist.
The dear woman pointed out that cabbage is one of the LAST things a
lactating woman wants to eat since it will (surprise, surprise) make her
milk stink like heck! Rubbing the crucifer on the breast would, as I
pointed out before, probably have, at most, a negligible effect except
to make the chest smell bad. In any case, the aforesaid old wife (the
grandmother, I mean!) apparently had never advised anyone to put the
brassica upon the breast.

I think the obvious explanation is that nursing mothers chose
cabbage leaves after noticing the remarkable resemblance of their
babies to cabbage patch dolls.
Oh, never mind. Valerie's explanation is better. Also, might it be
that the thicker cabbage leaves might remain cool for longer than
lettuce leaves?
