RE: [HAPS-L] evolution wars
Before anyone jumps in and agrees with the gentleman in Georgia that Creationism should be taught in schools, please read the WHOLE article about that letter...

Well, OK, maybe I'm a snob, but "effete"? I'll admit it...I had to look
up "effete" in order to decide if Rob was including me. From
Dictionary.com:
effete \eh-FEET; ih-\, adjective:
1. No longer capable of producing young; infertile; barren; sterile.
2. Exhausted of energy; incapable of efficient action; worn out.
3. Marked by self-indulgence or decadence; degenerate.
4. Overrefined; effeminate.
#1 doesn't fit me yet....although I'm scheduled for a vasectomy in 2
weeks, so stay tuned.
#2 does indeed fit me. But, I'm an A&P instructor, it is the end of
summer session, and my students insist on asking me if spelling counts
on a lab practical. Or, conversly, how can they convert a 60% into an
80% with just 1 exam to go, but without inventing time travel!?
#3? I'll let you decide. But remember...if you insult me, the website
will turn off.
#4....the chances of anyone calling me "overrefined" are dismal at
best. Case(s) in point: my wife ofen refers to my at-home behavior as
"Homer Simpson-ish". My favorite joke involves a small child pulling
my finger. And my summer clothing style can best be described as "de
novo hawaii".

FINALS!)

Wow! http://www.fixedearth.com, the source of many of the "facts"
referred to in the article, is an earful. They aren't just opposed
to evolution; they are targeting the Copernican revolution as well.
Let's end the tyranny of truth: equal time for fiction! Enough of
these effete, intellectual snobs: give ignorance a chance!
