Re: [HAPS-L] Disease/Syndrome names

Using the authority of Google, I'd say that there's no rhyme or reason!
For example:

Parkinson disease: 1,630,000 hits
Parkinson's disease: 2,150,000 hits

MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) is used by librarians to categorize things, and you can search there to see what they use. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/meshhome.html

I tried a few terms, and it seems to give the "no apostrophe" term as the main entry, then the "apostrophe", eg:

Addison Disease
	Addison's Disease

Some variations may be due to translations from other languages. I assume that the common "nodes of Ranvier" for "Ranvier's nodes" derives from a literal translation of "les noeuds de Ranvier".
