{Disarmed} RE: [HAPS-L] another shot fired in the evolution wars

Dr. Kenneth Miller who wrote Finding Darwin's God is speaking at our institution in March. He is sponsored by different divisions including mine and humanities. I am looking forward to his talk as well as the reaction of folks here in Indiana. We do not garner the same publicity as Kansas on this topic but many of my students have strong feelings about evolution as being in direct opposition to their beliefs and do not want any form of enlightenment or debate.

I'd like to know if any have heard Dr. Miller(biology department at Brown) speak or want to comment on his book.

Any social movement that must succumb to such stealth and sneaky tactics must know it is a false ideology.  I live in Wichita and must contend with this nonsense on an almost weekly basis.  Thanks for your post, Ken.

I'm not interpreting it as a deliberate setup. I think the person who invited me is skeptical of ID too, and just thought, if belatedly, that it might be more interesting (and draw a bigger audience) if the event were set up in this point-counterpoint format rather than as a solo lecture. Being aware of the DI's Wedge Strategy, I saw it in a different light and didn't find it conscionable to play into the DI's hands by engaging them in a stage debate.
