[HAPS-L] Saving Flash Video on an XP based machine- USE MOZILLA
I have provide instructions for Mozilla.
This is an excellent browser for a number of reasons but it really
works well with cached information. So assuming you have Mozilla
(Firefox 2) (or if you need to download it here is a link)
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/launch/?utm_id=Q406&utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=postlaunch
First clear you cache in Mozilla using
"Tools - Clear private data" - and make sure that the cache option
is checked. Then type in the URL for the narrated version of the
animation, provided below
http://multimedia.mcb.harvard.edu/anim_innerlife_hi.html
While the animation is playing open
another window using the "file - new window" option or "CTRL
N"
In the new window type the line shown
below without the quotes and then hit "enter"
"about:cache?device=disk"
The files below will appear
Clicking on the 3rd file will
take you to a lo-res animation, while the fourth will give you a high res
animation. Irrespective which version you choose, follow the steps
below. Instructions for the high res version are provided.

Clicking on the Highres file will lead
to the window below appearing.
If you click on the hotlinked URL at
the top of the page the next screen (below) will appear
Choose "save to disk" and
it will save at your default location a file called "BiovisionHighRes3.flv"
You can open this with any flash player
(including IE and Mozilla" and it should play.
Sorry for the image heavy post but I
thought overkill was perhaps the better strategy.
I do not know the legality of the issue
but if people are having problems with the tedium of the task then I could
place it on a website for download.
