Title: Re: [HAPS-L] Cat preservation problems
Please contact the preserved specimen department. I know the folks in charge and THEY would want to know about your problems.

The cats we just received, which came from Carolina Biological, just aren't as good as what we used to get.  The muscles just shred with blunt dissection, and it's taking hours to do a good job.  Is it a change in the fixative used?  Are all cats preserved in something different these days?  Or did we perhaps just get a bad batch?  This isn't the first time we've had this problem, so I'm beginning to think it's the preservative.  Last year, we tried leaving them in a vat of formalin, but it didn't help, as the cats were already fixed.  Any insight, or tips on what else to try, would be appreciated.
