Betsy: We had the same problem with Wards Scientific. The last few batches of cats, hearts and brains were just not preserved well. We now order our cats from Delta Biological and are satisfied with their product. We do get a few cats that are not preserved well (last time we sent back 5 cats out of 80+), but they always give us credit for the bad ones. Hope this helps. The cats we just received, which came from Carolina Biological, just aren't as good as what we used to get. The muscles just shred with blunt dissection, and it's taking hours to do a good job. Is it a change in the fixative used? Are all cats preserved in something different these days? Or did we perhaps just get a bad batch? This isn't the first time we've had this problem, so I'm beginning to think it's the preservative. Last year, we tried leaving them in a vat of formalin, but it didn't help, as the cats were already fixed. Any insight, or tips on what else to try, would be appreciated.
