Cannon (1871-1945)
American physiologist
Cannon was one of the first to investigate the relationship between emotions and physiologic responses and to describe the emergency function of the adrenal glands. In the 1930's, while a professor of physiology at Harvard, he introduced the physiological concept of internal environment regulation and coined the word homeostasis.
