Moose Alces alces

Moose are frequently seen near water feeding on aquatic plants throughout the GYE.


Our first class meeting, a general information meeting for anyone enrolled or interested in the class, is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 29, from12:00pm to 2:00pm, in room LS-24.  This meeting will address such topics as the itinerary, activities, safety, general features of the ecosystem, and answering questions.  More academic topics will be pursued as time allows. Be prepared to fill-out registration materials, and pay registration fees at the first meeting.  Registration fees are $12 per unit  plus a $2 accident insurance fee.  

Our second meeting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 12:00pm to 2:00pm, in room LS-24.  Both of these meetings are very important, so please plan to attend. 

  Wyoming field meeting dates are as follows:

Aug. 2   Meet in Colter Bay, afternoon activity, lectures-presentations.

Aug. 3    Morning hike, afternoon Snake River float, evening lectures-presentations.

Aug. 4    Dawn float Snake River, Day hike near Slide Lake, lectures-presentations.

Aug. 5    Canoe String and Leigh Lakes, hike, lectures-presentations.

Aug. 6    Hike Cascade Canyon, lectures-presentations.

Aug. 7    Move to Yellowstone National Park, lectures-presentations.

Aug. 8    Lamar Valley (wolves?) wildlife viewing, lectures-presentations.

Aug. 9    Hike Mt. Washburn, Tower, wildlife viewing, lectures-presentations.

Aug 10   Canyon hikes/activities, wildlife viewing , lectures-presentations.

Aug. 11  Pelican Valley and East Entrance, evening wildlife viewing.
