Material Fee and Handout Packet

Before you begin this course, you will need to purchase a Counseling 165 material fee from the Palomar College Bookstore. The cost is $27.00 and that covers the cost of the handout packet and inventory reports.

There are two ways to purchase the $27.00 material fee receipt from the Palomar College Bookstore.

1). You may go to the bookstore and purchase the material fee from any sales associate. The sales associate will give you a receipt that you must bring to the Palomar College Career Center.

The career center staff will take the receipt and give you the handout packet.

2) You may order the $27.00 material fee from the internet. The web address for the Palomar College Bookstore online is http://www.efollett.com You will receive a receipt from the bookstore in the mail.

Please be advised that you should not be charged shipping and handling--if you are charged $6.95 demand a refund from the bookstore manager, Walter Della Santina. This is an unfortunate error.

You can mail the receipt to: Maria Miller, Career Center Palomar College 1140 W. Mission Rd. San Marcos, CA 92069.

When I receive your receipt, I will mail you the handout packet.

Please pay the material fee and secure the handout packet before starting this course.

The Career Search Process

This course is designed to provide you an opportunity to learn (or perhaps rediscover) some things about yourself and the world of work. What you get out of the course depends, in part, on how much you put into it, and your readiness for career exploration. After you complete Part A, I will provide you a personal web summary on your results and my comments.

Here is an example from a previous student.

Some people, because of where they are in their lives, may have a difficult time making a career decision. This is especially true if you are facing a major stressor such as divorce, unemployment, work injury or any other major change in your life.

Young people with very limited work experience may also find it difficult to make firm career decisions.
