Background

Strong Interest Inventory TM provides you with the most up-to-date and powerful occupational interest information available. The Strong Interest Inventory TM assessment instrument reflects today's pattern of constant change in the world of work. Whether you are a student exploring careers or someone considering a job change, the Strong TM provides the most valid, powerful, and up-to-date information to help you make informed decisions.

The Strong's 317 items measure your interest in a broad range of occupations, work activities, leisure activities, and school subjects. The validity and reliability of the Strong exceed those of any other interest inventory:

  • Sample size is 13 times larger than that of other career or interest inventories
  • Sample base represents a wide range of educational and socioeconomic levels
  • 14 growth occupations and contemporary careers were added in the last few years.

The Strong TM helps plan for different steps along the career path with one goal in mind: to match your interests with careers. The inventory lists many jobs, activities, school subjects, and so forth, and you are asked to show your liking or disliking for each. Your answers will compared by computer with the answers given by people already working in a range of jobs, and your scores will show how similiar or dissimiliar your interests are to the interests of these people.

Your Strong Report will not be mailed to you until the Career Center has received the material fee receipt from you.

Instructions

To complete the Strong TM go to http://online.cpp-db.com and enter the following data. Please note that you do not need a User ID the first time you log on.

Password Palomar


This will take you to the Palomar College Web Administration Site.

Before you can start the Strong, first select the Batch Name CS1 from the pull down menu.

Now you can click on Strong and enter your user information. The items that you must enter are your first and last name and gender. The other items are completely optional.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click continue. Read the instructions and complete the inventory. Please email me if you have questions or problems.
