Overview

The purpose of this assignment is for you to conduct an employment search using the Internet. You will use two Internet job listing services,monstertrak and America's Job Bank. These services do not require you to register to see their job listings. Palomar College Career Center contracts with monsterTRAK to list the over 5,000 local jobs available to Palomar College students and alumni.

Step-by- step directions for how to access these services are listed in detail below.

You may also opt to explore other Online employment services such as SignOn San Diego which provides listings from the San Diego Union Tribune. If you need assistance with this assignment, please email me or come to the Palomar College Career Center.

 
How to Use monsterTRAK

Click on the monsterTRAK logo or go to http://www.monstertrak.com

  • On the monsterTRAK home page - click on Search Jobs.
  • On the Campus Selection page, scroll down and highlight Palomar College from the list.
  • Scroll down and enter hireme in the school password box.
  • Be sure the password, hireme is one word and lower case.
  • If you are using an on campus computer, do not enter a password, leave the password box empty and click submit.
  • Click Search and you will go to the Palomar College monsterTRAK page
  • Click on Jobs and Internships.
 
Directions for using America's Job Bank (subject to change)

Enter www.ajb.dni.us. This brings you to America's Job Bank Homepage.

  • Click Occupation. This brings you to the Occupation Search page..
  • Select a job title. Review the categories to find one related to your career interests.
  • Click on the folder to expand and see the job titles in that category.
  • Click on the hand to select a job title.
  • Pull down "100" miles from the pull down menu. Type in your 5 digit zip code.
  • Click Search Now. This brings you to a Job List.
  • Review the job titles.
  • Click View to read the job description.
