Overview
(refer to the handout packet)
Now that
you have completed the career assessment part of the class, it's
time to explore the world of work. Please refer to the career
research assignment in your handout packet. The purpose of
the career research assignment is for you to learn more about
career options based on your inventory results and your own interests.
This assignment
generally requires three or more hours to complete. I strongly
suggest that you do your research assignment using the resources
at the Palomar College Career Center (Main
Campus or Escondido)
You
may use the Online
References listed on the classs website to complete
Assignment #6.

To start you will need your Strong TMReport
and MBTITM Career Report. The Career
Center staff will assist you. You do not have to turn in the
print copy of the research assignment Part One only the Writing
Assignment #6 below.
Palomar
College Career Center
The
Palomar College Career Center is open Monday through Thursday,
8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The
center has 35 multimedia computers with internet access and several
software and database programs. ERISS, Choices, Eureka and Discover
are database programs that provide current information on careers,
colleges, and college majors.
The Career
Center offers an extensive reference library of academic, occupational
and job search materials. Career reference guides include the
Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) Occupational Outlook Handbook
(OOH) and the Guide for Occupational Exploration. The library
also includes career interest books, newsletters, brochures, and
information on reference guides on networking, interviewing, resumes,
and internet job search.
