These terms and conditions, taken together with the syllabus constitute a contract between you and me. My expectation is that you will work as hard as a student as I do as your professor. Together we will be prepared for class so that we can get the maximum amount of learning from the interaction.
Course Standards:
1. Students caught cheating or plagiarizing will be dropped from the course.
2. Students engaging in harassing or disruptive behavior will be dropped from the course.
3. Poor grammar, spelling, and/or punctuation will result in the loss of one grade (ie.: A>B, B>C, C>D, D>F).
4. Students are expected to keep a complete copy of all work for their own files. Late work will not be accepted.
5. Online students are expected to contact me before the start of class by email and to maintain an accurate email address for themselves in Blackboard. Online students who do not actively work to keep this address up to date will be dropped from the course after the second bounce back.
6. I don't give make-up tests without a written doctor's note. Online students should plan to take your tests several days in advance of the final date to avoid having mechanical failure play havoc with your grade.
My Goals:
To teach students to discuss and write confidently and knowledgeably about American Indian culture. To reveal the depth and breadth of expression in Indian America by exploring the interface between cultural systems and environments. To explore the contributions of American Indian culture to other cultures, including our own.
By continuing forward you agree to these terms and conditions and recognize that the successful completion of this class will take a minimum of 11 hours a week for the next 16 weeks. Furthermore, you agree to seek my advice should any problems arise which inhibit your progress in my classes, I am here to help you succeed. Helping you learn is my primary objective.
