to Figure/Ground

to Ambiguous F/G

Amie Grenier - Figure/Ground - Collage - 7.5 in. by 7.5 in.

This unusual letter form is called an ampersand. The top loop is cropped to keep the negative shapes next to it smaller in order to achieve a 50/50 balance in figure and ground.

Amie Grenier - Ambiguous F/G - Collage - 7.5 in. by 7.5 in.

This composition is very ambiguous. Can you tell which color paper is on top?
