This tutorial is designed to be used as a complement to a college course in Principles of Economics.  Fiscal Policy is typically covered mid-semester, hence this tutorial assumes prior knowledge of economic relationships.  It includes worksheets that should be printed so that the user may practice the concepts discussed in the tutorial.  Once finished, these worksheets should be checked by a tutor or instructor to make certain that the learner is proceeding in the right track.

The author (Jose L. Esteban) teaches at Palomar College, a community college in San Diego County, California. This tutorial was produced for the On-line Tutorial Assistance Project (OnTAP) under a Telecommunications Model Application Pilot Project Grant of the Chancellor's Office of the California Community Colleges. The grant was locally sponsored by the North County Higher Education Alliance (NCHEA) and led by Palomar and MiraCosta community colleges.  All the material in this tutorial  created by the author or found in sites of public access.

Executive Office of the President,  US Budget 2000. http://w3.access.gpo.gov/usbudget/fy2000/guidetoc.html

This is a government publication that is prepared by the Office of the US President.

The National Budget Simulation is a project of UC-Berkeley's Center for Community Economic Research and was created by Anders Schneiderman and Nathan Newman.  Retrieved from the Web on 4/28/1999. http://garnet.berkeley.edu:3333/budget/budget.html

This simulation asks you to cut the 1995 fiscal deficit in order to achieve a balanced budget. In order to make the choices we face in the budget clearer, we assume that you make the cuts all in one year. You may also want to increase spending in areas that you think are being shortchanged under present budget priorities.
