I believe that a good library staff member
- knows how to do his job well.
- knows why she does what she does.
- knows how what she does relates to others' jobs within her area.
- thinks critically and asks questions.
- handles details accurately on a sustained basis.
- has strong interpersonal skills. He is interested in and sensitive to others.
- works well with a variety of people.
- knows her library's mission and can articulate how her job relates to it.
- (especially in public institutions) understands the national demographic changes
that are taking place and is committed to serving a multiculturally diverse population.
- is willing to defend intellectual freedom.
- wants to meet others who works in libraries and find out how to do his job better.
