Is there adequate signage
Is there room for a security system
Is there space near the entrance for public bulletin board, display case, pamphlet racks, library announcements, public telephone
Are there spaces for quiet study, conference rooms, kitchen
Are there automatic doors for handicap and wheel chair use
Is there at least 44" between stacks
Does the restroom door open easily
Is there room for copy machines, is there a copy machine at wheel chair height
Circulation
Is it near the entrance
Is it clearly visible
Is there space for reserve shelves, book carts for returned books, phones, electricity, and computer terminal
Children's Facilities
Is the space inviting
Are there separate terminals for children
Are the heights appropriate for children (chairs, tables, shelves, etc)
Is there space for adults while sharing with children
Can staff have visual control
Is there storage space for crafts
Is there a programming area
Are there noise barriers
Reference
Are there clear signs
Is the reference desk located at the entrance to the reference area
Is the collection conveniently located
Is there adequate space for indexes, newspapers, and magazines
Are there adequate computer terminals
Is it arranged so that librarians are visible and look approachable
Shelving
Is it movable
Is the design and color standardized
Does it have adequate safety features and are they easily adjustable
Are they well lit
Do they conform with earthquake standards
Are they sturdy and clearly labled
Other areas to consider are seating and non-public areas
