PUBLIC LIBRARIES
California has 15 library systems. They are supported in part by fees
contributed by member libraries, the State of California under the provisions of the
California Library Services Act, and the Federal Library Services and Construction Act.
These 15 systems include:

- Serra Cooperative Library System (Serra) **
**The Serra Cooperative System is a network of public libraries in San Diego and
Imperial Counties established in 1966. It includes:

Patrons in the SERRA System may check out and return books at any library in the
system.
They may access books from other system libraries through interlibrary loan.
The Cooperative System presents workshops for all the libraries. They also
work on summer reading programs jointly.
