History 101  -  United States History Survey to 1865
Political, economic, social, and cultural development of the American people through Reconstruction, with emphasis on: European expansion, the colonial period, the Revolution, the frontier experience, the emergence of sectionalism, and the Civil War. 
This course plus History 102 meets the California State requirement in American History and Institutions.  Transfer: UC (History), CSU (History)
 
History 102  -  United States History Survey 1865 to Present
Political, economic, social, and cultural development of the American people since Reconstruction, with particular emphasis on industrial development, changes in American society, expansion of governmental activity and the United States as a world power.

History 140  -  History of the Americas to 1800
A comparative study of the exploration, conquest, and settlement of the Americas by the Spanish,  Portuguese, French, Dutch, and English nations through the 18th century. Significant attention is also given to the history of pre-Columbian Indian cultures such as the Aztec, Maya, Inca, Huron, and Iroquois, and their relations with European settlements, the development of the European nation-state and the resulting imperial rivalries in the Americas, and the formation of colonial institutions and the stresses on those institutions in the 18th century.

History 141  -  History of the Americas 1800 to Present
A comparative history of the American nations in the 19th and 20th centuries with emphasis on themes of political development and social and economic change. Particular focus on the development of the nations of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Mexico, and the United States, as well as interAmerican relations in the twentieth century.

History 151  -  History of Modern Latin America
Political, economic, and social development of the Latin American republics, including a brief survey of the colonial period and the wars for Independence. Particular focus on the development of the nations of Argentina, Brazil, Cuba and the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, and the Andean Nations,  as well as inter-American relations in the twentieth century. 
Particularly appropriate for Spanish language students.    Transfer: UC (History), CSU (History)
