this site is
dedicated to the men of the Italian 33 "Acqui" Division who fought against the
German occupation in Greece during World War two. 10,000 Italian men were
stationed on the island of Cephalonia and only 34 survived to see Italy again.
These men acted with out orders but they gave the people of Cephalinia eleven
days more of freedom until the Germans overran their position and machine gunned
the surrendering Italians. Italy dose not recognize September 2 to the 13 as a
holiday which were the days the Italians fought but the cephalinians have set up
a memorial to the fallen Italians. If you want to learn more about this subject
then follow the top link in my favorite sites entitled 33 "acqui".
