M51 - The Whirlpool Galaxy

(click on the image for a larger version)
My favorite galaxy has always been M51.  I just love how it is face on and shows such incredible spiral details of gas and dust.  I imaged the Whirlpool Galaxy at Tierra del Sol after waiting for the galaxy to gain some altitude.  The image is the result of 60 stacked images of 30 seconds each.  Stacking was done with DeepSkyStacker (free!)  The grainy appearance is due to the fact that I clearly needed more photons and to use a lower ISO to reduce the noise.  Next time I will use a lower ISO and take longer images (now that I have the remote shutter cable).
