MOON WITH EARTHSHINE

This odd looking image is the combination of two separate images.  The right half is the same image shown above (3-DAY OLD MOON) combined with a longer exposure on the left of the earthshine-lit Moon.  Earthshine is when the reflected light from the Earth onto the Moon illuminates the normally darkened portion of the Moon allowing us to see it faintly lit.  Imaging earthshine produces a very overexposed crescent so I did some work with Photoshop to combine the two into a fairly accurate representation of what you would see through the telescope.
