At The 2006 Journalism Association of Community Colleges conference Palomar College RTV Students took First, and third place in the  Category- TV News.

Christina Portuguez won first place with her  well balanced look at the fight against Breast Cancer.

Austin Hill won 3rd place for his  behind the scenes look at Sign People.

Both Portuguez and Hill were nominated for the NATAS Emmy award for their work on North County News

Congratulations to these champions of professional Television News Journalism

Each of these students were members or the RTV 197 Advanced TV News class which produces the weekly half-hour newscast North County News which is cablecast to over 375,000 homes on Cox and Adelphia cable in North San Diego County.

Note: If you are a recent 4-year university college grad this course is a great opportunity for you to develop an outstanding demo reel.
