Course description:

You will learn advanced principles of producing, scripting, news gathering, studio work and editing, on-camera reporting, on-camera hosting of television news. You will have practice in planning, writing, editing, reporting, video shooting, and producing local television news broadcasts. You will cover news stories that effect North County residents. The above will prepare you for production of newscasts for airing on cable television. You will learn how to work with Police agencies, the R.T.N.D.A. Code of Ethics, working under a deadline, production of a professional TV newscast.

Overview

Welcome to the North County News staff. This course is designed to give you professional training in the field of TV news and to provide the local community with a high quality weekly or daily television newscast. As a member of a real world TV News operation this class will allow you the opportunity to create a professional small market demo tape.  Being a part of the North County News team is a tremendous responsibility. Everyone on the staff will be counting on you. Missed deadlines and absences will not be tolerated. You can expect to work a lot of long and hard hours. With all this in mind, remember you will not only gain employable experience from this hard work but you will have fun at the same time.

Grading

Grades will be based on the quality and quantity of your work. Assignment completion. Ability to meet deadlines. Team work skills. Exams and quizzes.
