This web page has been created as a starting point for researching Bipolar Disorder. Over 2 million adults in the United States have this disorder, 1 therefore we feel that it is important to know more about this illness. Our goal is to provide information in order to educate the reader about the disorder.
We have included historical information that explains when the disorder was first recognized as a disease. We evaluate possible causes of Bipolar Disorder, give statistical information as to who is likely to be affected and describe the symptoms that a person may exhibit. Finally we clarify the different treatments used, including information on the most common medications prescribed today.
