AMERICAN ARTIST AND WORK
You are to write two (2) reaction papers to works of American art . You may select any AMERICAN ARTISTS from any time of American history or any region of the Americas (North/Meso/South). For each paper select one artist and one their works (literature, visual, music). Each paper will be a review and reaction the one artist's work.
Choose an artist and work from the categories of literature, visual, or music. A paper will be 3-5 pages, double spaced, with the following heading on the first page.

The following outline should be used, but can be flexible in terms of how much you write on each of the following:
I. Artist Background: Identify the artists cultural background/family history especially in terms of their experiences and the possible influences on their work.
II. Work of Art: Identify, describe and/or illustrate the work of art you have chosen to focus on. Identify the genre and style of the work. What was the context in time (history) and space (region) when the artistcreated their work.
III. Influence of the Work: Describe the reaction to this work and its influence over time on American culture and /or the world. Conclude with influences you experienced or your reaction to the work.
References: Include books, periodicals and internet sources you used. You may cite in the text or simply include references at the end of your paper.
