Mode, Median, Mean
(A worked Problem:  Procedure explained in more detail
in Chapter 4)

Compute the Mode, the Median, and the Mean from the following 10 scores:

23, 39, 48, 72, 36, 38, 39, 54, 98, 64

I. Compute the Mode

A. Rank the scores (From high to low)

98, 72, 64, 54, 48, 39, 39, 38, 36, 23

B. The Mode is the score that is represented the most times
        There are two 39's

Mode = 39

II. Compute the Median

A. Rank the scores from high to low

B. Determine n

n = 10

C. If n is odd then the median is the middle score

(In this case n is even)

D. If n is even then identify the two middle scores

98
72
64
54
48--middle score
39--middle score
39
38
36
23

E. The median is the sum of the two middle scores divided by 2

Hint:          Remember to rank the scores before you find the median.
You are likely to get the wrong median if you do not rank first.

Hint:          Remember that there are two middle scores if n is even.

III. Compute the Mean

A. Sum the scores

98
72
64
54
48
39
39
38
36
23
511

B. n = 10

C. Mean equals
